Rosario’s GEMS Group

Investing Hope Foundation is making a real difference in the lives of people like Rosario Vasquez, a member of the GEMS savings group in Bogota, Colombia. Rosario is a single mother who lives with her son, Francisco. She has grown in her leadership skills and become a good team member since joining the GEMA group.

Rosario learned about the savings group through her church when Mr. Jim and his wife came to share the program with her community. The GEMS group has helped her meet her short, medium, and long-term savings goals. She saved enough money in her second cycle to repair the roof of her house and is currently saving for any emergency that might come up.

The group also provides small loans for different types of emergencies, and as they provide loans to group members, they all receive the interest of those loans. Last year, when the pandemic hit, they couldn't work, and their savings plans suffered. However, the church foundation and Investing Hope Foundation helped them through these difficult times by providing groceries and bags of bread.

Rosario's dream is for her children to follow God and guide their own children to know Him. She wants them to learn to save money and live well-organized lives. Her group is now focusing on maximizing their savings by planning activities with goals for their savings and investments.
